Hello! I’m Elissa Hess, a bilingual (EN&BG) author of fantasy, horror, and mythological folklore. My writing explores the psychological depths of human nature and blends cultural myths, dark symbolism, and emotional tension. I’m here because horror fascinates me—as a genre and as a mirror that reflects our deepest fears and desires.
My favorite horror subgenre is psychological horror, particularly when it intertwines with folklore and the supernatural. I love stories that unsettle through atmosphere, ambiguity, and the fragile boundary between reality and nightmare. I believe the most terrifying horrors come from within—from the unknown lurking in the mind rather than in the shadows.
One piece of horror that left an enduring mark on me is The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. The quiet dread, it’s masterful.
As an author I create dark, immersive narratives based on ancient mythology and folklore.
Excited to chat with fellow horror lovers and share our love for the dark and eerie!
Hi All,
My name is CJ Hooper. I have a long interest in history, archaeology, and mythology. I am also a stand up comedian, and now, more recently, I have started completing many of the short stories I had only previously begun or thought about.
My favourite stories are folk horror, though I'm very keen on cosmic horror too. Fir instance my favourite horror book is The Lurker at the Threshold, by Lovecraft and Derleth. I'm also a big fan of Ramsey Campbell and Adam Nevill.
I cam here seeking a way of getting my tales out there before putting them all together in a collection. Dark Descent has also been a really good source of inspiration and prompting.
Hello. Am I alone here? In the dark? 🤣🤣🤣 My name is Zoran, I'm from Croatia and I like horror. I am a published author, but mostly in Croatian language so I don't have too much to offer to you guys here. I guess my favourite sub genre would be folk horror, but I'm not exclusive 😀 I hope more people will come here soon.
