The Thing Under the Lake
Every winter, the lake freezes solid—smooth, silent, perfectly still.
But this year, something is trapped beneath the ice: a huge, dark shape that wasn’t there the day before.
At dusk, the shape begins to move.
By midnight, it’s pushing upwards.
By dawn, the ice has cracked in a perfect circle…and the shape is gone.
Only a trail of wet footprints leads from the lake into the forest.
