The Ring of Power
Like Bilbo Baggins, I too stumbled upon what I thought might be Sauron's Ring to rule them all?
It was my turn to watch Dziadek, my grandfather. I failed him.
On his deathbed, he stuffed a crumbled up piece of parchment paper into the palm of my hand. Unravelling it, I found an old brass key. His last words were, "The ring, ring, safe. Keep it away from Bapcia ... "
There was some sort of writing on it. The written note read, "He who wears it, rules them all in pain and suffering."
Weak, he no longer spoke, shaking, quivering, he pointed towards the mirror, before collapsing as death took him. I closed his eyes.
I sat there staring aimlessly at the mirror. Getting up, I seized it, and behind it found a small door in the wall. I unlocked it. Inside, an empty glass jar with a ring in it.
I slipped the golden ring out of the jar, and slid it on to my ring finger. I felt something take hold of me. Something far older than all of us. A burning desire burned within my heart as it overwhelmed my soul.I shook and quivered as my willpower faded and I passed out.
Years, or is it centuries later, I woke up transformed from a weakling into the hideous blazing red-eyed beast standing atop Mount Megiddo leading my army in the charge at the battle of Armageddon. I now understand it is my turn to end the rule of man as something ancient now resides in and controls me. I failed to protect us from the power in the ring. I should have destroyed it, instead of putting it on.
Now! It's the end of us all.
