This week’s ShadowSpark is a constraint challenge.

Using all five objects below, write a piece of micro-horror (up to 500 words).

How you use them is entirely up to you — literal or symbolic, subtle or overt.

Your five objects:

1. A key

2. A mirror

3. A glass jar

4. A handwritten note

5. A ring

   
   

There’s no required setting, tone, or ending. The only rule is that all five objects must appear somewhere in the piece.

Short, unsettling stories are encouraged, but take them wherever they need to go.
