The Snowman
I watched feathery flakes drift from a charcoal sky, smothering the world. A gust swirled the snow into eddies and the garden vanished. When the wind died, a lone snowman stood in the middle of the lawn, silhouetted by a crimson sunset. Empty black eyes fixed me through the window. A carrot nose jabbed like an accusing finger; a pebble mouth twisted in a stony smile. I blinked. The snowman moved closer. My eyes blurred and stung. I blinked again. It was against the glass. I blinked. It was inside. Its icy shadow fell over me; I felt so cold.
