Across the twilight
The Nazgul flies high and shrieks
We sink low in dread
The marsh swallows us up
Like drowning wild horses deep
Above the mirk our heads
The old crone warns to turn away
But our journey lies along the way.
This is the place that’s off the book.
Where the folks all wear the Innsmouth look.
Streets possessed by the ghosts of homes,
In the gloaming shade they rear like tombs.
A cemetery here, a graveyard there.
No difference to any body snatcher
Where their next corpse comes from.
It could be dug up almost anywhere.
Perhaps drunken derelicts swept off
Back steps in rat-infested alleyways.
