Darkness descends every day, 

After the sun sets, creatures 

Run amuck across our roads 

Kicking and screaming at all, 

Never stopping to think about 

Everybody locked in at home,

So insistent were the South on slaves

That war broke out across the waves

From afar we watched them fight the north

But this time was different, of ‘corth’

Because in New Orleans they knew what to do

They raised an army using voodoo

Peas Porridge hot, Peas Porridge cold.

It oozed out of the pot nine days ago.

Spreading across the cold stove top

Before dripping onto the tile floor.

Now my sleeping dog is no more.

No longer peas porridge steaming hot
