Submission Guidelines for Dark Holme Publishing:

Welcome to Dark Holme Publishing!

We're thrilled you're considering submitting your short story to our upcoming horror and dark fantasy anthology.

*  In light of the overwhelming response, submissions are currently temporarily closed as we diligently process the existing submissions. Stay tuned to our social media channels for the latest updates on submissions.


Before you submit:

  • Story Length: We accept short stories between 3,000 and 15,000 words.
  • Genre: Make sure your story falls under the category of horror or dark fantasy.
  • No submission fee:  We're excited to offer no submission fee! Your creativity is valuable to us. If you'd like to support our mission of providing free submissions, consider making a PayPal donation. Your contributions enable us to maintain this service without charging fees. We're grateful for any support you can provide!

What We Offer:

  • Payment: We pay £50.00 for every story published.
  • First Publishing Rights:  Upon acceptance, Dark Holme Publishing acquires the exclusive right of first publication for your story. Copyright remains with the author, allowing for future exploration of the work in other mediums.
  • Feedback: Due to high submission volume, detailed feedback might not be available.
  • Notification: We aim to notify authors within 8 weeks. Accepted authors will receive a contract via email.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Previously Unpublished Work: Only submit stories unpublished elsewhere (online, magazines, anthologies).
  • Formatting: Use a standard manuscript format with a legible font. Submit your story as a Word document or PDF.
  • Additional Information: Include your contact information and a brief bio (100-200 words) in the email body.
  • Submission Address: Submit your story and cover letter to Kerry@darkholmepublishing.uk
  • Multiple Submissions: We only accept one submission per author.
  • Rolling Submissions: We accept submissions year-round.
  • Publication Date: Authors will be notified of the publication date closer to release.
  • Diversity & Inclusion: We encourage submissions from diverse backgrounds!
