The Future Of AI Imagery In Dark Descent
As many of you know, Dark Descent has used AI-generated imagery in the past, and I've always been upfront and transparent about that.
Lately, though, I've been wondering whether it's time to move away from it completely, and I'd genuinely like to hear your thoughts.
The reality is that Dark Holme is just me. I'd love to commission original artwork, but it's simply not something I can afford right now. Stock photography, public-domain images, contributor-submitted artwork, simpler designs, or even no imagery at all are all possibilities.
So I'd like to ask: how do you feel about AI-generated imagery in magazines, websites, and publications like Dark Descent? If it disappeared tomorrow, what would you like to see take its place?
I'm not looking for an argument or trying to justify anything. I'm simply interested in hearing honest opinions, experiences, and suggestions from different perspectives.
As always, please keep things respectful. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I'm coming into this late but I figured I'd add my two cents. I try not to judge other's use of AI, but I personally don't support it or use it in my covers or posts. I'm always willing to hear out individual use cases, but I tend to be turned off my projects using AI generated art. So if you have other choices, I think it would be better to explore them. To the point of other commenters, collage images are fairly low impact and there are tons on non-AI stock images to use in that work. I'm a heavy Canva user myself but there are plenty of other avenues.
