🩸 Writing Challenge: Show, Don't Tell
One of the quickest ways to immerse a reader is to let them experience the story rather than simply be told what's happening.
This challenge is all about bringing your scenes to life through action, sensory detail and atmosphere.
Now it's your turn! ✍️
Write a 300–500 word horror scene where your character experiences a powerful emotion—fear, grief, anger, guilt or despair.
There's just one catch...
You can't name the emotion.
Instead, reveal it through body language, dialogue, sensory details, the environment, and the character's actions. Let the reader discover how your character feels without ever being told.
Focus on creating a scene your readers can see, hear, feel, smell or even taste.
👇 Post your work below. If you'd like feedback, let everyone know what you'd like readers to focus on. And if you have time, take a look at someone else's work too—constructive feedback helps us all grow as writers.
