ShadowSphere — September Nightmare Poetry
🖤 Nightmare Poetry is back in its proper home!
We tried moving things over to Dark Forum, but sometimes you realise the old way simply worked better. So from September, Nightmare Poetry is back here in ShadowSphere where it started.
September’s theme is ready, so let’s see what dark poetry you can come up with. Two poems will be selected for publication in Dark Descent magazine.
Drop your poem in the comments below. 🖤

My Halloween Night Light
The curse of creepy shadows
Cast upon room walls at night
Flickering on and then off with
Every passing breeze it seems
Someone or something visits
To watch me sleep within my
Bed hiding beneath my sheets
Covering my head so I do not
Know if it showed up to touch
Me on my toe ankle or elbow
I only know I did wake up but
Not in my bedroom at home
I only know I was in a coffin
In front of my crying sobbing
Weeping relatives who all let
Out a groan when I sat up from
My deep sleep in a funeral parlor
They all stormed out thinking
With me alive no one would
Inherit anything this time
Just like the last three times
I pulled this stunt before
Even though they all swore
I had no pulse nor heartbeat
No breath traversing across
My tongue and out of my lips
When they had laid me to rest
Just like all the times before
So for next time a relative
Did bring a sledge hammer
And a wooden oak stake
To put me down one last
time to make sure that
I stay dead not to awake
