ShadowSphere is a community space for conversation, creativity, and shared interests, shaped by the people who choose to spend time here. You’re welcome to join existing discussions, start a post if something’s on your mind, or create a group if the one you’re looking for doesn’t exist yet. There’s no right way to take part — some people lead conversations, some respond, and some listen for a while. All of it belongs.

Can't see anymore, but I can feel the rain falling on my body as I lay in the field. Mom always said, "April showers bring May flowers"...I wonder what kind of flowers will sprout from me.

No Signal at The Mountains of Madness

Where there’s whippoorwill there’s a way

But for Dr Armitage he’d been forced to overstay

In the land of ice and snow

Where only he and Led Zep would go

The landscape proving far too tough

And pursued by a Shuggoth (sorry, not sorry)

Wow… what a month.

Over 60 votes came in for this round of the ShadowSphere microprompt competition—and the response was insane. The creativity, the darkness, the sheer quality of entries… next level.

This is what happens when a community leans fully into the shadows 🖤

And now, the top entries are stepping beyond the competition…

🖤 Featuring in this March’s Dark Descent

If you voted, entered, or just watched it unfold—you’re part of this. And trust me… it’s only getting darker from here 👁

🖤 Dark Descent: Print Edition & New Feature 🖤

Big news! From 15th April, Dark Descent will be available as a physical magazine. At the moment, print copies are not available via subscription, but this option will be coming soon. You can grab a copy in-store, while digital subscriptions continue as usual — your experience isn’t changing.

And there’s more: we’re introducing a brand-new serialised story feature. For the first time, we’re accepting longer submissions    — up to 1,500 words  — and only one story will be chosen  per slot. The winner will be serialised across multiple issues, giving readers a chilling story that unfolds over time.

Ready to see Dark Descent like never before? Mark the 15th in your calendar and stay tuned for our first print issue.

Cthulhu goes to a nail bar

The proliferation of nail bars

Would think it spoiled for choice

But for those with talons for nails

There was only one voice

The Cenobite beauty parlour

Was the place where Cthulhu would go

Ha! That's awesome! I can't imagine how nerve wracking it would be as Cthulhu's stylist. Well done.
