The Wrong Path Taken
Standing within the deep, dark wood,
Unsure of which overgrown path to tread,
In frozen doubt you watched and stood,
Not knowing what might leave you dead.
Indecision stoked by your naked fear
Will seal your fate while trapped in there.
What was that sound? A growling bear?
Alone, you stand in cold despair.
Don't close your eyes too fast in fright,
Or in these woods you’ll lose your life.
Before the woods would let go tonight,
They’ll tear your heart apart with strife.
Too soon, your remains will disappear,
To feed any forest denizen, or scavenger.
You knew not whose woods these were,
For no corpse is left to bury inside there.
